"If Reiki can be spread throughout the world it will touch the human heart and the morals of society. It will be helpful for many people, not only for healing disease, but the Earth as a whole.”

About Us

Anna and David have been working together in the health industry for seventeen years, consistently learning and exploring what it means to be truly healthy. It's about finding balance, whilst understanding that balance is fluid; this is the fundamental basis for health. And good health is the fundamental basis for quality of life.
Whilst their initial experience was working mostly with the physical body, teaching clients how to exercise safely and effectively as well as how to manage their nutrition, Anna and David slowly adopted a more integrated approach, addressing all aspects of a person’s life, incorporating movement therapy, massage and Reiki into their treatment plans to help restore health.

Davana is a herb renowned for its healing properties and is used widely in Ayurvedic medicine for both mental and physical disorders. It is also a combination of the names David and Anna so they thought it was the perfect name for their Reiki practice!

I have always had an interest in health, human nature and healing which is what drew me to study psychology at university. Alongside that, I was heavily into exercise and devoured health and fitness magazines, starting my health-related teaching career as a fitness instructor.
I first came across Reiki whilst working on cruise ships as an instructor and personal trainer. A lovely massage therapist used to help me with a shoulder issue and during a treatment, she spoke to me about Reiki. She was just a beginner and said, “tell me if you can feel when my hands are above you and when they’re not”. Sure enough, I remember feeling an energy when she hovered her hands over my back. Wow!
The fact that I found the idea intriguing and magical, rather than a load of nonsense, was probably the first clear message that Reiki would one day become part of my life.
Fast forward through the years and I became a Pilates teacher, working with injured people. More and more, I felt this fundamental desire to help people improve their quality of life. I began to study all manner of other movement therapies such as yoga and Feldenkrais and gained my certification in massage therapy.
During this time, I was brought back to how much the mind and body are interlinked. You simply cannot separate the two and discomfort can weave its way through both. And what binds them? The soul.

And this is where Reiki re-entered the picture. It’s the missing link for many people who feel out of balance and is also a valuable therapy for those who are unable to exercise or have any kind of deeper body work like massage. I carry out daily self treatments and continually study around the subject of energy healing. I hold a Reiki diploma which allows me to offer Reiki to NHS patients and I am part of the Reiki Medicare team, providing distance treatments to NHS staff.

When I was eight, my mum sent me to a karate class. I was lucky to have a particularly brilliant teacher who taught not only the physical side of the art, but the philosophical side too. It intrigued me. I watched endless martial arts films – the old ones with the hilarious and unrealistic ‘punching’ sound when someone was hit “pioushh”. There was always a message in there about honour and morals. There was always a spiritual element too.

When I was ten I was given my first sword which led me to Bushido – “The way of the warrior”. The principles of Bushido are: integrity, respect, courage, honour, compassion, sincerity and loyalty – not unlike the daily principles of Reiki. Over the next forty years or so (I don’t look that old do I?!) I studied many different Japanese arts but essence was always the same: you become a master of the physical to reach a higher level of consciousness. It’s about where your mind is when you’re doing the physical work. It’s not about violence – it’s about peace.

When Anna said she wanted to become a Reiki practitioner, I recalled a Reiki treatment I’d had in my twenties. I remember at the time thinking that it was nonsense – I just fell asleep. Back then I didn’t realize that this is quite common and in no way inhibits the effectiveness of the treatment.

Once I began to research Reiki and attended the relevant workshops, I started to see that I was coming full circle back to the martial arts. My practice, study and teaching had, for a few years, had a very physical focus and I found that it was time for me to reconnect with my spiritual roots.

I do have quite a scientific and design-oriented mind and I think Reiki can definitely be looked at from a scientific viewpoint as well as a spiritual one. The universe is just a macro version of the micro human body. Everything operates through electrical energy and vibration. Reiki undoubtedly has very real therapeutic benefits and I find that incorporating Reiki work with my clients provides them with a complete and rounded approach to their health and well being.

Just for today, I will not worry
Just for today, I will not be angry
Just for today, I will be grateful
Just for today, I will do my work honestly
Just for today, I will be kind to every living thing

Testimonials

“When I was relaxing 😎 on my bed I felt my gluts get hot/warm and a little while after that with my eyes closed I saw colours pinks, purple and then green then they faded away. Five minutes before the end I had an overwhelming urge to get up as I felt energised.”
M, Orpington

“I have had a course of Reiki sessions with Anna both in person and virtually (during lockdown) and they have had a transformative effect on me. Anna is such a kind, intuitive and knowledgeable practitioner. I feel totally safe being guided through the process with her and sharing my experiences after. I feel like working with Anna has helped give me the space and guidance I needed to work through some deep shifts in my life and I would 100% recommend her.”
A, S.E. London

“My headache continued after the treatment, but has gone now and today I have the same centred feeling as last week. A calmness that doesn’t feel forced and a stillness within. My mind isn’t racing around like it usually does, it’s just doing what I’m doing as I’m doing it. I am a fan!”
P, Beckenham
“I work with Anna as a trainer and a reiki teacher and I can honestly say she has changed my life! The reiki work we do helps me feel calm, centred and gives me more motivation to tackle my day. I was sceptical about the virtual sessions at first, but the effect they had were really tangible. Anna is such a wonderful coach, she creates such a safe and encouraging space and I find her to be really intuitive and emphatic. I am so happy I have had the opportunity to work with Anna – I feel very grateful our paths crossed.”
